PRAGUE - The Czech Chamber of Deputies today supported a coalition proposal to allow postal voting in elections for Czechs living abroad. The government camp succeeded in doing so only on the sixth day of deliberations due to the fact that the approval of the amendment was blocked by MPs from the opposition ANO and SPD movements. Their motions to reject the amendment or to return it to the drafters for reworking were rejected by the majority of the lower house. The initial parliamentary debate on the proposal lasted about 63.5 hours of net time, but the coalition set a fixed deadline for the vote due to the opposition's obstruction. The Coalition followed a similar procedure, for example, when approving the consolidation package last year, when the initial debate on it lasted about 27 hours of net time.
