MOSCOW - The Russian Ice Hockey Federation and the Russian Ministry of Sports have made significant progress, thanks to their joint efforts, in the return of the Russian national team to the international stage.

The Disciplinary Committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation, after reviewing the complaint filed by the FHR, overturned the decision of the IIHF Council dated January 21, 2026, which banned Russian national teams from participating in IIHF competitions in the 2026/27 season for security reasons. The reason for this decision is that the international federation did not provide sufficient justification for the ban. The IIHF's reports on the assessment of security risks are not exhaustive and contain only general provisions. The Disciplinary Committee ruled that the overturning of the decision does not automatically guarantee the return of our teams, but the FHR will continue to fight for their rights. The FHR will continue to cooperate with the Russian Ministry of Sports and the Russian Olympic Committee to facilitate the return of our teams.
