SYDNEY - The Australian center-left Labor Party, led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, has secured a second term in office following Saturday's federal elections.

Albanese stated that his Labor Party won a majority in the elections and pledged to guide the country through a period of global uncertainty.

"Thank you to the Australian people for the opportunity to continue serving the best nation in the world," the Labor leader said on Saturday at a rally in Sydney, addressing a cheering crowd.

The leader of the Australian opposition, Peter Dutton, conceded defeat in the parliamentary elections on Saturday and stated that he had spoken with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
