During the Meeting of Local Representatives of China and Central and Eastern European Countries in 2026, Jana Moravčíková, PhD., Associate Professor at the University of Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, expressed interest in closer cooperation with China in the fields of biotechnology and smart agriculture. Although the university has not yet established official partnerships with Chinese institutions, it recognizes China's leading position in the field of modern technologies, particularly in artificial intelligence and advanced solutions for modern agriculture. The goal of potential cooperation would be to improve the quality of education and support research and innovation.

Jana Moravčíková stated that the university has been conducting research in the field of biotechnology for a long time. She believes that connecting with modern Chinese technologies could significantly strengthen the scientific potential of the school and the quality of teaching.

The cooperation could include joint research projects, student exchange programs, and other academic activities. These initiatives could offer students from Slovakia and China broader opportunities for study and practical experience, while also helping the younger generation to better respond to global challenges, such as climate change.

Moravčíková also emphasized that issues of food security and climate change are of global importance and require international cooperation. One of the main goals of participating in the meeting was to establish personal contacts and explore opportunities for long-term cooperation with Chinese universities and research institutions.

According to the Slovak side, a practically oriented cooperation could contribute to the development of education, science, and social development, and support the training of a new generation of experts with international experience. These discussions are seen as a first step towards building mutual trust and finding concrete forms of future cooperation between Slovakia and China in the field of higher education and technological innovation.
