PARIS - Stop playing power games. In the face of the denial of democracy imposed by Emmanuel Macron, left-wing mayors from Val-de-Marne are calling for mobilization. In a letter addressed to the residents of Villejuif, Chevilly-Larue, Bonneuil-sur-Marne, Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, Fresnes, Cachan, and Gentilly, they strongly condemn the president's maneuvers.

If the republic is trampled upon, its very essence is shaken. The president's attitude only fuels "contempt and violence towards the institutions that are, as a result, increasingly weakened," say the left-wing mayors in their open letter. "Emmanuel Macron has taken a dangerous gamble and plunged our nation into an unprecedented political crisis, risking handing over the reins of our republic to the extreme right, in contradiction to the values that shaped our collective identity."

We are losing the people's trust.

Despite massive mobilization against the pension reform, the president has never wanted to take the opinion of the people into account. Today, while the French were voting, they did not choose Lucie Castets as Prime Minister in the name of "presumed institutional stability."

It makes no sense to ignore the ballot boxes and install a government similar to the previous one; it is a "kind of coup d'état," laments Pierre Garzon."Liberal policies have been harming our country for decades. We must break away from Macronism. We are gradually losing the people's trust," continues the mayor of Villejuif from the PCF, who notes that local residents have been marginalized from the social, cultural, and political landscape.

"Despite the holidays and the Olympic Games, which Emmanuel Macron used to divert attention, a certain form of despair is emerging," he says. If the right to vote and the right to demonstrate are scorned, what is left to express? "The collective framework no longer exists," notes the communist, "Macron's system challenges the sovereignty of the people. Only the perspective of financial markets and those who embody them is all-powerful."

The Covid-19 pandemic, the cost-of-living crisis, and the energy crisis, the riots that shook the cities... The mayors of Valdemarnais have always been at the forefront to protect the population. To prevent the country from falling into the abyss, they are calling for a real popular uprising.

Whether in the streets or in the workplace, everyone must mobilize to defend the republic. Because by respecting the will of the people, the mayors will be able to "respond to the challenges facing our nation" and to the needs of their fellow citizens.
