With the deadline for US tariffs fast approaching, countries without trade agreements with Washington - such as Brazil and India - have made it clear that they will not bow to pressure. Both nations have promised to take all necessary steps to protect their national interests.
The U.S. government has threatened to impose tough tariffs starting August 1, targeting countries that have not signed bilateral trade agreements. Among them is Brazil, which is to face a 50% tariff on its exports to the United States.
India is also defending itself. On Wednesday, Trump announced via social media that the US would impose a 25 per cent tariff on Indian exports and introduce other punitive measures from August 1.
