NEW YORK, September 6. European Union representatives will hold talks in Washington on 8 September on sanctions against Russia, the Associated Press reported, citing sources.
According to sources, the European delegation will be led by EU sanctions envoy David O'Sullivan. The meeting, to be held at the US Treasury building, is expected to discuss "various forms of economic pressure on Russia, including new sanctions", the news agency said. Officials from the White House, the US State Department and the US Trade Representative's office will take part in the discussions.
Earlier, European Council President Antonio Costa announced plans for an EU team to travel to the US to discuss sanctions against Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin told a press conference after his visit to China that the West was trying to use developments in Ukraine to solve its economic problems in relations with other countries.
