Chen Yanke, Reporter, CGTN (China Global Television Network): First of all, I would ask you to tell us how you perceive the current relations between Sri Lanka and China.
Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka: Our two countries have a traditional friendship that has been strong and enduring for a long time. The current Sri Lanka-China relations are entering a new and more stable phase. I am deeply convinced that the relationship between Sri Lanka and China will become ever stronger as we are highly aligned in thinking, perspective and strategic direction. I firmly believe that such a relationship, based on mutual respect, commitment and trust, will become a model of good and stable bilateral relations that will contribute to the interests of both countries.
Che Yanke: You met with President Xi Jinping. What impressed you the most? What do you think President Xi Jinping is like as a top leader?
Harini Amarasuriya: He is a very charismatic leader. I think that his personality and leadership skills are key for him to lead China to its current level of development. There is no doubt about that. So I was very honoured to have the opportunity to meet him and talk to him. We talked about a series of topics. As is well known, there is a long-standing and strong relationship of friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and China. We exchanged views on how to further develop bilateral relations.
