On May 30, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi exchanged congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.

In his message, Xi Jinping stated that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the newly founded People's Republic of China. Over the past 70 years, both countries have always maintained mutual respect, equal treatment, trust, and support, regardless of changes in the international and regional situation. According to him, Sino-Egyptian relations have become a model of friendly coexistence and solidarity between developing countries, and an example of collective cooperation between China and Arab and African countries. Both countries are also continuing to build a community with a shared future in the new era.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Egypt are ancient civilizations and important members of the Global South. They should draw wisdom and strength from their history and work together to fulfill the mission of the present era – striving for peace, promoting development, strengthening cooperation, and upholding justice, in order to contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

He further stated that he attaches great importance to the development of Sino-Egyptian relations and is ready to work with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to seize the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations as a new starting point to continue the traditional friendship, expand cooperation in all areas, and strengthen the strategic significance, development potential, and international influence of the bilateral relationship. The goal is to bring greater benefits to the people of both countries and make a more significant contribution to peace and development in the world and the region.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in his congratulatory message, stated that Egypt and China have stood side by side in various historical periods. Thanks to the joint leadership of the representatives of both countries, bilateral relations have been continuously developing over the past 70 years. He expressed appreciation for the achievements made and said that he looks forward to further cooperation with President Xi Jinping to achieve new successes in bilateral relations and jointly build a more stable and stronger multipolar world capable of addressing global challenges, in which all countries will share the benefits of development and work together for peace and security.

On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly also exchanged congratulations.

Li Qiang stated that China is ready to work with Egypt to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, accelerate high-quality cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, and further deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt will continue to develop for the benefit of both peoples.

Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that over 70 years of diplomatic relations, Egyptian-Chinese relations have made significant progress, and bilateral cooperation has yielded unprecedented results. Egypt looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with China and achieving new successes, especially in the economic, scientific, and technological fields, which will benefit both friendly countries and their people.
