BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to participants of the 20th West China International Fair. He said the event is aimed at expanding opening up to the outside world at a high level, deepening regional cooperation and promoting a modern production system. The Chinese president praised the role of the fair in shaping a new development model and promoting the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative. He said the fair serves as an effective platform to introduce the opportunities of China's western region to the world.

Xi Jinping expressed China's willingness to use the event to enhance mutual understanding, expand international cooperation, safeguard multilateral trade and ensure the sustainability of global supply chains. The fair opened today in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan province, under the theme "Deepening Reforms for Greater Dynamism, Expanding Openness for Greater Growth".
