Tractors are loved not only by children, but also by many adults. Is simply looking at antique and modern tractors in museums not enough for you? Would you like to sit on them or inside them and experience how they work? Have you seen them in action? Then you'll be pleased to find a brief overview of museums where you can explore tractors from all angles, as well as tips on where to go for tractor rallies, skill competitions, and parades this year.

Tractors in Agricultural Technology Museums

One place where tractors play a central role is the "Tractor" exhibition at the National Agricultural Museum in Prague. The exhibition features twenty types of tractors from both domestic and foreign brands, manufactured between 1917 and 1953, and is complemented by pedal tractors and ride-on toys for children, a Farming Simulator computer game, and a unique Zetor simulator where you can experience driving a tractor firsthand.

The cab is equipped just like a real tractor, and you can experience driving in the city or plowing in the field, including shifting gears, braking, and accelerating. For small children who can't reach all the controls, there's a children's excavator right next door. In addition to tractors, at the National Agricultural Museum you can see exhibitions on fishing, agriculture, and hunting, and the silence laboratory with a living forest is also attractive, as is the observation terrace on the roof, where you can have a picnic.

In September 2020, a branch of the National Agricultural Museum opened in Ostrava. The agricultural machinery on display is divided into three main thematic groups: tractors, grain processing machines, and feed processing machines. The 40 exhibited machines represent a cross-section of the largest collection of agricultural machinery in the Czech Republic. You will see well-known Czech brands as well as machines manufactured in the USA or the then-USSR.

The Museum of Historical Technology in Čáslav offers a unique collection. It is also part of the National Agricultural Museum, which exhibits more than seventy machines from dozens of manufacturers. It provides a comprehensive overview of tractors and agricultural steam engines, mostly from the first half of the 20th century, from both domestic and foreign origins.

You can also sit in some of the many historical tractors at the Museum of Tractors and Agricultural Machinery in Chotouň, a town in the Central Bohemian region. Most of the carefully restored machines are operational and could still work in the field today. The oldest exhibit is a Praga AT tractor from 1928. You can visit the museum year-round by appointment, and you can also visit the Museum of Utility Technology in Mníšek pod Brdy, which has 80 tractors. You can see more tractors at the Museum of Agricultural Machines near Vyškov.

Fun for young and old can also be found at the South Bohemian Agricultural Museum. The exhibitions focused on soil preparation, planting, harvesting, processing agricultural products, and crafts include interactive and play elements. The Agrohopsarium is full of hay and climbing structures made from straw bales. There is also a children's corner with tractors, pedal tractors, a tractor simulator, a mini-farm with live animals, and much more.

In addition to motorcycles, bicycles, cars, and hundreds of other exhibits, you can also see agricultural machinery at the Museum of Veterans at the Zelenohorská post office, the manor house of the steward of the Zelená Hora estate, Daniel František Táborský of Hirschfeld, in Nepomuk.
