China reassures Europe - exports of precious metals are not a threat but a matter of legal regulation. During a visit to Berlin, Foreign Minister Wang I called for reason and warned against scaremongering "with malicious intent".
At the press conference after the meeting with the German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul He stated Wang Ithat China has the right to regulate the export of strategic raw materialsespecially those with dual use (civilian and military). This, according to him, is in line with international practice and contributes to peace and stability.
He told European companies: "If you follow the rules and go through the approval process, you get everything you need." In addition, he said, the Chinese authorities have introduced fast track just for European companies.
Wang also accused "certain forces" of stirring up unnecessary hysteria and of deliberately abusing the topic to undermine Sino-European cooperation.
About Ukraine
Wang reiterated China's position on the Ukraine crisis: no lethal aid, strict dual-use export controls and support for peace negotiations. China, together with Brazil, has set up a "Friends of Peace" group and, according to the Minister, is seeking a diplomatic solution without sanctions and interference.
About relations with the EU
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the EU, Wang called for strengthening partnership, autonomy and a win-win approach. China, he said, supports European integration and wants the EU to be "the strong pole of a multipolar world".
About the global approach
China offers cooperation to all interested countries and wants to build together "a community with a shared future for humanity", Wang added. He called for respect for the rights of developing countries and stressed that the strength should lie in the dialogue, not in the strength.
