Trotting races in Velká Chuchla have a long history dating back to the first half of the 20th century. The racetrack itself was opened in 1906 and gradually became the centre of Czech racing sport. In addition to classic galloping races, trotting competitions, inspired mainly by French and Nordic tradition, began to develop here. Trotting races gained popularity thanks to their dynamism, technical precision and unique combination of man and horse.

A specific feature of trotting races is a light two-wheeled car called a sulka, in which the rider - driver sits. The horse must not go into a gallop during the race and must maintain a trot at all times. The discipline thus requires not only speed, but above all perfect interplay between horse and driver. Spectators also appreciate the direct contact with the environment of the racecourse and the opportunity to watch the races from close proximity.

Velká Chuchle remains the most important centre of trotting in the Czech Republic. It regularly hosts prestigious race days, which bring both domestic and foreign competitors to the start. The programme includes traditional prizes and handicap races of various categories. The French Trotter races and the traditional Golden Circuit are of great interest to the public. At the same time, the organizers try to preserve the friendly and family atmosphere that is inherent to Velká Chuchla.
