At the prestigious St Petersburg International Economic Forum, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang made a call for unity, global equality and a peaceful future. He stressed that humanity's shared values of justice, freedom and development must not be mere slogans, but the concrete direction of world politics.
Vice Premier Ding, a close associate of the president Xi Jinping, recalling his decade-old appeal to common values of humanity - peace, development, justice and equality - and called for their consistent promotion in the face of growing global crises.
In his speech, he put forward a four-point plan: the consistent application of the principles of international governance based on equality, the promotion of an open and pluralistic world economy, respect for the diversity of civilisations and an emphasis on diplomatic conflict resolution.
Strong words were also spoken in the direction of strengthening the Sino-Russian partnership. Ding described the relationship between China and Russia as a "true friendship of shared destiny" and affirmed the joint efforts to a just and inclusive multipolar world.
On the sidelines of the forum, he held talks with top Russian officials, including Denis Manturov, Alexander Novak, Igor Sechin a Alexey Miller, and there was also a bilateral meeting with Prabowo Subianto from Indonesia and representatives from Bahrain and South Africa.
He concluded by assuring that despite global challenges, China's economy would remain stable and open to the world. "China's doors will only open more," Ding added, inviting global investors to participate in China's modernisation process.
