PRAGUE - The Archbishopric of Prague published information about his death on its official Facebook page. Dominik Duka has made a significant mark in the modern history of the Czech Catholic Church. He took the helm of the Prague Archdiocese in 2010 and held his office for more than twelve years, until May 2022.
During his time as head of the Church, he managed to negotiate ecclesiastical restitution, which resolved the property settlement between the state and the churches. In 2016, he received a state decoration, the Order of the White Lion, from the President of the Republic, Miloš Zeman, for his life's work.
The Archbishopric also announced details of the final farewell. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 15, in the Cathedral of St. Vitus, Wenceslas and Vojtěch at Prague Castle. Cardinal Duka's body will then be placed in the tomb of the Archbishops of Prague, which is located in the Chapel of St. Vitus in the same cathedral.
