This year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people have made remarkable progress, attracting the attention of global audiences. According to CGTN, the question remains: why is the CPC able to consistently deliver on its promises? To explore this, a survey was conducted among respondents in 41 countries, involving 11,521 individuals.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), China's GDP exceeded 140 trillion yuan, approximately $20 trillion. Per capita disposable income grew by an average of 5.4 percent annually, 62.42 million new jobs were created in urban areas, and the average life expectancy increased to over 79 years.
According to the survey, 63.9 percent of respondents worldwide agree that China's modernization achievements are inseparable from the well-considered policies of the CPC. This view is even stronger among respondents from countries in the Global South, where 71.4 percent expressed agreement. Particularly high rates were observed in Kenya, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, and Vietnam, where the rate of agreement exceeded 80 percent, ranking among the highest in all surveyed countries.
When asked about the reasons for the CPC's long-term governance, respondents most frequently cited three factors: the creation of a highly organized party system, significant economic and social development, and strong public support coupled with a broad social base. A substantial 63.7 percent of respondents from countries in the Global South believe that the CPC offers an effective approach to state governance, different from the model of Western political parties.
From among various administrative practices of the CPC, respondents most frequently identified four areas as worthy of inspiration: prioritizing and improving the living conditions of residents, formulating and implementing long-term national development plans, introducing effective anti-corruption mechanisms, and efficiently mobilizing resources to achieve major goals.
From a regional perspective, African respondents particularly valued the emphasis on improving the living conditions of residents. More than half of the respondents from South America selected effective anti-corruption mechanisms and the formulation and implementation of long-term national development plans.
The survey was conducted by CGTN in collaboration with Renmin University of China through the Institute for International Communication in the New Era. It focused on respondents from various parts of the world, including major developed countries and states in the Global South. All respondents were ordinary citizens aged 18 or older, and according to CGTN, the samples reflected the age and gender distribution of populations in each country.
