Regional cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries is entering a new phase. During the 7th meeting of local officials of China and Central and Eastern European Cooperation, foreign politicians and regional representatives, in interviews for the China Media Group (CMG), stated that China's achievements in economic and social development are extremely impressive.
According to the participating officials, China's modernization and high-quality development are bringing new dynamism to regional cooperation between China and Europe. Bilateral cooperation is also gradually expanding into other areas, including technological innovation, green development, modern agriculture, and cultural exchanges.
Klodiana Spahiu, Deputy Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, stated that the traditional friendship between China and Albania has deep roots. According to her, both countries have ample room for further cooperation, especially in the areas of artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and tourism.
Former Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă described today's China as a synonym for "development, technology, and innovation." She highly praised China's stable development strategy and its ability to manage the country scientifically. At the same time, she emphasized that China has become an indispensable force in global affairs.
Ueli Maurer, former President of the Swiss Confederation and former Minister of Finance, stated that the rapid development of artificial intelligence makes innovation a key driving force of global progress. According to him, China is on the right path with its innovation efforts. Maurer also stated that Switzerland, as a major European center of innovation, should further strengthen cooperation with China in this area.
Nataliya Kiselova, former Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament, emphasized that China's technological innovations in the field of renewable energy, battery storage, or plant breeding can also bring concrete benefits to Bulgaria.
Lucia Skvareninova, Economic Counselor of the Slovak Republic in China, stated that China's successes in the areas of new energy, artificial intelligence, and environmental protection are creating more opportunities for further development of Slovak-Chinese cooperation.
During the conference, more than 20 side events were held. Among them was a dialogue between provincial and regional representatives of China and foreign countries. Blaž Pezo, Prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Josip Bilaver, Prefect of the Zadar County, Savvas Koulouris, Deputy Prefect of the Ionian Islands region, Radu Rațiu, Deputy Prefect of the Romanian region of Cluj, and Tomasz Rawski, Mayor of the Polish city of Warka, stated that within the framework of the cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European countries, specific projects have already been successfully implemented.
These projects included, for example, the Pelješac Bridge, the Korlat photovoltaic project, the export of agricultural products to China, and cooperation between universities in the field of biomedicine. According to the participating officials, these examples show that cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries has a practical impact and brings concrete results.
The regional representatives also expressed their desire to use this meeting as an opportunity to further strengthen practical cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries. In the future, they see opportunities, especially in the areas of local investments, the development of industrial parks, economic and trade cooperation, and other projects that can support the development of individual regions.
