China has highly appreciated the position of the Czech government regarding the "One China" principle. According to Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has repeatedly affirmed his commitment to improving relations between the Czech Republic and China, and has clearly declared his support for this key principle of Chinese foreign policy.
At a regular press conference on May 20th, Guo Jiakun was asked about a recent article by Prime Minister Babiš in Czech media. In the article, the head of the Czech government reiterated that the Czech Republic will firmly support the "One China" principle and actively strive to normalize relations with China.
In response, Guo Jiakun stated that China and the Czech Republic enjoy a long-standing traditional friendship. He emphasized that mutual respect, equality, and mutually beneficial cooperation have always been the fundamental principles of developing bilateral relations.
According to the spokesperson, maintaining healthy and stable relations between the two countries serves the fundamental interests and shared expectations of the people of China and the Czech Republic.
Therefore, according to Guo Jiakun, the Chinese side highly appreciates that Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has repeatedly expressed his willingness to improve China-Czech relations since assuming office, and that the Czech government supports the "One China" principle.
