Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang called for stronger international cooperation in the digital economy during the opening of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Digital Economy Forum in Tianjin, China.

In his keynote speech, Ding Xuexiang, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of the consensus reached at the SCO Heads of State level and in the framework of the Global Digital Compact.

He proposed to promote the sharing of technological innovation, the development of a powerful and stable digital infrastructure and the construction of Digital Silk Roadsto connect regions with high-quality and flexible data networks. He also mentioned the need to work together to build a multilateral digital security system and to support the UN's role in the global rule-making of the digital world.

Approximately 600 government, business and academic representatives from China and abroad attended the event under the auspices of the National Data Administration and Tianjin City.
