The General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, met with the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un, at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang.

During the meeting, President Xi Jinping expressed his great joy and pleasure at visiting the beautiful Pyongyang again after seven years, and he expressed his willingness to strengthen high-level planning and strategic guidance for relations between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the new era, so that bilateral relations can continue to develop in line with the times, bring greater benefits to both countries and peoples, and actively contribute to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Xi Jinping stated that, in a world undergoing rapid changes, both sides should draw wisdom from the history of party-to-party relations and bilateral relations, seize the opportunity in the development of human history, inject strong dynamism and new connotations into the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK in the new era, and create a beautiful prospect for the socialist cause of both countries and regional peace and stability.

President Xi Jinping put forward a four-point proposal for the development of relations between China and the DPRK: First, it is necessary to adhere to high-level exchanges and strengthen the foundation of political trust. Second, it is necessary to strive for the benefit of the people and improve the level of practical cooperation. Third, it is necessary to promote the dynamism of traditional friendship and strengthen the bridge for people-to-people exchanges. Fourth, it is necessary to uphold the principles of equality and mutual benefit and enrich the content of strategic coordination.
