China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, said on Monday that the main cause of the disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz lies in the illegal military actions of the United States and Israel against Iran. He made the remarks during a high-level UN Security Council debate on maritime security.

In his view, the way to resolve the disruption of navigation in the Strait is to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire as soon as possible and then support the restoration of peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East region.
