The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a New Year's tea party on the morning of 31 December. The meeting was attended by top leaders of China and the Communist Party of China, including Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi and Han Zheng.
The event was also attended by representatives of the central committees of democratic parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, non-party representatives, leaders of central and state authorities, and representatives of the Han people and all ethnic minorities and social strata. Together, they welcomed the arrival of the New Year 2026.
The keynote speech was delivered by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission. In his speech, he emphasised that the development plan has already been set and it is time to move forward.
He stated that the entire party and people of all nationalities in China should strengthen unity, move forward together, and achieve significant results through hard work. According to him, the goal is to create a future based on innovation and to continuously develop a new stage of modernisation in the Chinese style.
