China Media Group (CMG) on Wednesday held a press conference for the 2026 Spring Festival Gala to introduce the highlights of the program, technological innovations and officially announced the presenter line-up.
Under the slogan „joy, happiness and cheerfulness“, the Spring Festival Gala 2026 draws inspiration from traditional Chinese culture while incorporating innovative elements. The program continues to shape the „People's Gala“ from several perspectives - fun, warmth, inspiration and thoughtfulness - and offers a wide range of performances.
The main stage in Beijing will be moderated by the six Ren Luyu, Sa Beining, Neghmet, Long Yang, Ma Fanshu and Liu Xinyue.
The visual presentation is greatly enhanced by AI-generated technologies and an expanded stage. In addition, artists from different countries show the interconnectedness of diverse civilisations through music and dance.
This year's Gala will again feature humanoid robots „dancing“ on stage. The program will also debut new technologies in content production and distribution, increasing quality and efficiency. Focusing on the innovative fusion of culture and technology, CMG is preparing a „cultural feast“ on New Year's Eve with high artistic value and visual appeal, accessible to the Chinese community and friends around the world.
For the first time, a broadcast version with accessibility will also be available on CCTV-15 channel, incorporating sign language and AI-generated subtitles, continuing the concept of „breaking down barriers“.
The visual experience is supported by AIGC technology and the set design is elegant and monumental, including the „Galloping Horses“ installation, which uses lighting effects and layering of colours to create the impression of thousands of horses running across the stage.
The Gala will be broadcast on February 16 at 8pm on 4K and 8K Ultra HD channels, new media and CCTV News platforms. It will be carried internationally by CGTN channels in English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian, along with 85 international platforms and more than 3,300 media partners in 200 countries and regions.
