China Media Group has released a short video promoting its Spring Festival Gala evening, which will be broadcast live worldwide on the evening of 16 February.
The Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional holiday for Chinese people, and watching the Gala on TV is a popular part of the celebration in hundreds of millions of Chinese households.
Since its first broadcast in 1983, the gala has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most-watched annual television show in the world. Less than a year ago, the Spring Festival itself was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
