The Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee held a meeting on Friday to discuss a set of working regulations on the Party's ideological and political work, as well as a draft law on promoting ethnic unity and progress
The meeting was chaired by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
Considering the importance of regulations, the meeting stressed the need to strengthen and develop ideological and political work in accordance with new circumstances, to adapt to changes in social groups and to increase accuracy and efficiency. The need to preserve and strengthen the Party's overall leadership in this area was also stressed.
Regarding the draft law on the promotion of ethnic unity and progress, the meeting stressed that it aimed to further consolidate the unity and cohesion of the Chinese nation.
In particular, the need to consolidate a common ideological and political foundation for the joint efforts of all ethnic groups, build a strong sense of belonging to the Chinese nation, and further promote the common prosperity and development of all ethnic groups was emphasized.
The meeting also set out the requirements for further progress in occupational safety and accident prevention, stressing that the safety of human life must always come first and that development must never be at the expense of safety.
