Prague – The chairman of the PRO party and member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Jindřich Rajchl, sharply criticized President Petr Pavel regarding the ongoing dispute over the leadership of the Czech delegation to the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara. Rajchl accused the head of state of lying, questioned the actions of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, and called on the president to apologize or resign. According to Rajchl, the president changed his position after realizing that Prime Minister Andrej Babiš would not appoint him as the head of the Czech delegation to the alliance summit.

“Just a few weeks ago, he claimed that the composition of the delegation to the NATO summit was, of course, within the competence of the government,” Rajchl stated. He then added that after Pavel realized that Andrej Babiš did not intend to take him to Ankara, he “turned 180 degrees, as he has done many times in his life.” Rajchl also criticized the president's reliance on constitutional customs and his decision to turn to the Constitutional Court. “He began to claim that, based on constitutional custom, he had the right to go there regardless of the government's decision, and he dragged the Constitutional Court into politics with his stubbornness, fueled by the pressure of his sponsors and puppet masters,” he said.

According to the chairman of the PRO party, the president has “irreversibly undermined public trust in the impartiality of this institution.” He also deemed Pavel's statement that the government's decision was in violation of a preliminary measure by the Constitutional Court to be unacceptable.

“I myself read that unfortunate preliminary measure five times. There is NOT A SINGLE WORD in it about Petr Pavel being the head of the delegation to the NATO summit,” Rajchl emphasized. He subsequently rejected the president's interpretation of the court's decision as unsubstantiated. “This fabricated conclusion of his cannot be justified either by a logical interpretation of the operative part of the preliminary measure or by its reasoning. Petr Pavel fabricated this extremely serious statement,” he said.

Rajchl also stated that similar actions on the part of the opposition would provoke strong political reactions. “If we were to commit a similar transgression, the entire opposition would unanimously shout that we should resign,” he said. However, in the current situation, he believes that some politicians will choose silence, while others will support the president. “Now, of course, either the more intelligent ones will be hypocritically silent, or the more fanatical ones will enthusiastically applaud Pavel,” he added. He also directed significant criticism towards the Constitutional Court. “The Constitutional Court, with its unlawful decision, has created a complete monster that is now completely out of control and believes that it can do absolutely anything,” he said.

In conclusion, he called for active action against the president. “We should now do everything to stop him before it is too late,” Rajchl said. According to him, it is no longer possible “to passively watch as he turns the Constitution into a rag and how he lies unscrupulously whenever he opens his mouth.” <-> “Petr Pavel should apologize for this, or abdicate,” concluded the chairman of the PRO party.
