The launch of the Xi'an–Yan'an high-speed railway on Friday marked a new milestone for China's railway network, with the total length of high-speed lines in operation in the country exceeding 50,000 kilometres.
The expanding network enables travel between urban agglomerations up to 500 km away in 1–2 hours, same-day return trips over 1,000 km, and 8-hour trips over 2,000 km, fundamentally changing the way people travel, work and connect across regions.
