Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets with Afghan Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani in Kabul. Wang Yi said China has always treated Afghanistan with friendship, adhered to the principle of equality of all states regardless of their size and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, respected Afghanistan's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, respected the development path chosen by the Afghan people, and respected Afghanistan's unique national conditions and national religious traditions.
Wang Yi pointed out that China supports Afghanistan's economy-oriented policy and is willing to contribute to Afghanistan's development and recovery in order to strengthen its capacity for self-reliant development. China supports the resumption of bilateral patrols in the Wakhan corridor as soon as possible to maintain peace and tranquility in the border area.
It hopes that Afghanistan will take effective measures to combat international terrorist forces such as the East Turkestan-Islamic Movement, thus providing a strong guarantee and the necessary conditions for cooperation between the two sides.
Sirajuddin expressed the view that Afghanistan attaches great importance to China's security interests because the threat to China is a challenge to Afghanistan as well. We will not allow anyone to use Afghan territory to threaten China's security. Afghanistan is willing to further strengthen security cooperation with China and to face the risks and challenges together.
