Informal Meeting of Ministers for Development, February 11 and 12, 2024, in Brussels

The informal meeting of ministers for development began on February 11 at the Magritte Museum in Brussels. Subsequently, the ministers participated in a working dinner with Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Today's discussions are taking place at the Egmont Palace. The ministers' discussions will focus on the mid-term revision of the multiannual financial framework and the evaluation of international cooperation. The ministers will also discuss the situation in Ukraine, with a particular focus on the Instrument for Ukraine. The morning session will be concluded with a working lunch with P. Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The Czech Republic's delegation to the meeting is led by J. Kozák, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Informal Meeting of Ministers for Competitiveness (Research Component), February 14 and 15, in La Hulpe

The informal meeting of the Competitiveness Council (research component) will take place on February 14 and 15 in La Hulpe, Belgium. The agenda includes two political debates and a working lunch. The first political debate will focus on the transformative nature of the European framework for research and innovation, and the second will address technological developments to accelerate the decarbonization of industry and strengthen the EU's competitiveness. The working lunch will focus on fostering interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration: universities, research centers, businesses, policymakers, and citizens. The Czech Republic's delegation will be led by O. Andrys, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Informal Meeting of Ministers for Competitiveness (Tourism Component), February 19 and 20, in La Hulpe

The agenda for the informal meeting of ministers includes an assessment of the "Pathways to Transformation" document for the tourism sector, in light of the content of the Commission's evaluation report. The central theme will be the dual transformation of this sector: digital and sustainable. The working lunch will focus on the future and the expectations of member states regarding the topic of tourism in the context of the new composition of the European Commission. The Czech Republic's delegation will likely be led by S. Schneidr, Senior Director for Coordination of European Funds, International Relations, and Tourism at the Ministry for Regional Development.
