Member of the Czech Parliament, Miroslav Ševčík (independent, representing the SPD), criticizes what is known as "values-based politics." According to him, it is a fabrication by people who adapt values to suit their political needs. Policy should serve Czech households, businesses, and citizens.
When asked whether cooperation with China is a "dirty word," he replied: "Good heavens, certainly not." He recalled that American politicians and German Chancellor Merkel have also traveled to China. It is utter nonsense to claim that traveling to China is something bad.
Ševčík also stated that China often has much better technology than the most advanced Western countries. Therefore, he considers cooperation with China to be a positive thing. He believes that free trade is better than tariffs and barriers.
