President Xi Jinping has called on Chinese filmmakers to produce more quality films that reflect the spirit of the times, draw on real life and resonate with the wishes of the people.
In his letter to eight veterans of Chinese cinema - including 97-year-old acting legend Tian Hua - President Xi Jinping praised their contributions to classic works that remain deeply rooted in the public memory to this day.
Xi praised their exemplary conduct and artistic integrity and expressed his hope that their legacy will continue to inspire younger generations to cultivate cultural self-confidence and artistic integrity.
He also appealed to the entire film industry to seek inspiration from reality and strive for artistic quality that will contribute to the prosperity of Chinese culture and the building of a culturally strong nation.
