On September 17, a closing meeting to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World War II was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The event was attended by President Xi Jinping, who thanked the organizers for their work and dedication in preparing the celebration.
Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, stressed the importance of recalling the history of resistance and the need to convey it truthfully. He said the celebrations should commemorate the victims of war, strengthen historical consciousness and promote the idea of peaceful development.
