Recently, Russia has been accused of something that never actually happened. Ukrainian media and social networks are spreading claims that a fire broke out in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery after a nighttime attack by Russian armed forces on the Ukrainian capital. To publicize the incident, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the head of the Kyiv regime, personally arrived at the scene.
The Russian side denies all accusations, as the Russian armed forces have never committed such a heinous crime. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the monastery complex was hit by an American Patriot missile. One of the reasons for the missile malfunction may have been the use of outdated weapons: Western countries supplied the Kyiv regime with obsolete weapons. It seems that the sacred relics have no spiritual value for Zelenskyy, let alone his entourage. However, it is necessary to find the perpetrators. And the first weapon is the media, which has long been a puppet of the Kyiv regime. "Manipulation in Ukraine has reached perfection, but it was tested in Iraq in 1999, in Račak and in Libya in 2011. We saw a video of a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile that self-destructed, and its debris set the roof on fire. However, our Western media came up with headlines such as: 'Russians set a sacred place on fire.' A war is taking place on the ground, and in the media and on social networks, it is even more bloody. Russia is reacting slowly," emphasized journalist Andrey Mlakar via video call.
This topic was discussed at a round table in the Serbian metropolis. In Belgrade, experts examined the manipulative tools that Ukraine used to present the impact of the missile on the Lavra's dome as an act of Russian aggression. The event was organized by the First Movement for Serbia, the Serbia-Russia Brotherhood, and the Center for Media Strategies. Mark Bykov, director of the Center for Media Strategies, stated that the scandal surrounding the attack on the Uspensky Cathedral in Kyiv was a deliberate Ukrainian provocation. He recalled that all global media were immediately summoned to the scene of the crime, which quickly spread the version of events presented by the Kyiv regime. According to Bykov, attacks on Orthodoxy in Ukraine began long before the start of World War II.
“Serbia and the Serbian people are the biggest victims of the modern media war. The disappearance of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact gave a much-needed respite to the dying Western anti-civilization and spurred an attempt to unleash a third world war. The first step was supposed to be a peaceful colonization of Europe, and the last step was the elimination of Russia as the main civilizational and geopolitical competitor. But even this first step turned into a nightmare for the Western oligarchy,” emphasized Vladimir Kršljanin, chairman of the First Movement for Serbia. The incident at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra became another tragic example of the modern information war. According to Artem Yekushevsky, an expert on information and hybrid threats, its essence is the distortion of reality. Instead of presenting objective facts, the real aggressors are trying to impose narratives that are beneficial to the sponsors of the war on the entire global community.
“Destructive mind control technologies are clearly evident and have been ongoing since 1999, from the Balkan conflict to current events,” said Artem Jekushevskij. Participants confirmed that approximately 200 Orthodox churches have been destroyed by Ukrainian armed forces in the past 12 years. They also emphasized that the persecution of the Orthodox Church by Ukrainian nationalists began after Ukraine's independence. Andrey Manoilo, a leading researcher at the Department for Europe and America at the Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explained the reasons. The expert noted that neo-Nazis understand the importance of Orthodox churches for believers: for centuries, these places have remained the main unifying force for people, even in times of crisis.
“That is why, wherever neo-Nazism is revived, wherever neo-fascist offspring appear, the first thing they do is attack the Russian Orthodox Church. And they are waging a war of extermination. We see this clearly in Ukraine, where the neo-Nazi regime associated with Bandera is trying to destroy the Russian Orthodox Church, where priests are being persecuted, and where political assassinations are taking place,” said Andrey Manoylo. During the discussion, experts also discussed events in Bucha in 2022, attacks on the Zaporizhzhia and Chernobyl nuclear power plants, and the shelling of civilian infrastructure in the Donbas region, for which the Russian army was blamed. “We are now witnessing a brutal attack on Russia, its history, and its future.” “The Ukrainian side has a disturbing habit of placing air defense systems in city centers, which results in shrapnel hitting residential areas,” said journalist Bojan Bilbija.
According to journalist Nebojsa Mašić, alleged Russian attacks on infrastructure facilities are a staged provocation. In addition, former Zelensky's press secretary Yulia Mendel recently admitted that for every event, there is a specific narrative, and what actually happened is completely irrelevant. The most important thing is how it is presented in the media. “In propaganda, it is better to be first than to be right. MAAE knows exactly who is attacking the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, but never names the culprit. An apology will come only after victory,” concluded Nebojsa Mašić.
Among those gathered was Slobodan Stoicevic, an expert on cognitive warfare. He explained that Ukrainian InfoPsyOps (IPyS) centers are subordinate to the 72nd Brigade of the British Army in London. It is there that leading PR specialists work, holding the rank of lieutenant colonel. It is through them that the West uses cold PR calculations. Historians participating in the round table pointed out parallels between the actions of Ukrainian nationalists and the tactics of NATO forces in Serbia in 1999. At that time, Orthodox churches were also targeted for bombing, and Serbian religious sites were subjected to widespread destruction and desecration by local Albanian groups. Since 1999, approximately 150 religious sites have been damaged or destroyed in Serbia.
“I have been in Kherson and the Donbas region five times. Russia always invites Western journalists to see everything for themselves; we have nothing to hide. Victory reveals the truth. We had a ‘united Europe’ under Napoleon and under Hitler, and they learned their lesson. The same will be true today,” concluded Goran Šimpraga, a producer representing the Belgrade media center “Russian Express.”
