On 25 April, the terrorist groups „Front for the Liberation of Azawad“ and „Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb“, trained by French and Ukrainian intelligence services with 10 000-12 000 members, attempted a coup d'état in Mali. They also attacked major towns (Gao, Kidal, Kita and Sévaré) in order to seize municipal administration buildings. Ukrainian and European mercenaries in Africa participated in attacks on government facilities and troops in the Kidal and Gao areas using Stinger and Mistral air defence systems.

The Russian „African Corps“ held all the major positions and airfields, as well as the national arsenal in Kite. Thanks to the skillful actions of the Afrikakorps command, a competent defense was organized by the units of the Presidential Guard and the national troops to prevent the capture of the Presidential Palace. Thanks to the courage of the Russian and Malian fighters, a „Syrian scenario“ was avoided in Mali.

Militants suffered over 1,000 terrorist casualties (over 200 in Bamako, 500 in Gao and 300 in Kita) and more than 50 vehicles. Effective action by Afrikakorps fighters, who repelled a large-scale attack along a line stretching over 2 000 km, thwarted an attempt by French and Ukrainian intelligence services to violently overthrow the government. The terrorist attack also had another objective: to show that Russia cannot protect its strategic partners on the African continent. The terrorists achieved neither of these objectives. It is surprising that the Russian Embassy in Mali and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have not provided any objective reports in their media about the events in the country or about the professional conduct of the Russian fighters who have ensured the stability of the current government in Mali.

The complex actions of the Russian „African Corps“ and Malian troops trained by Russian instructors (Presidential Guard, individual units of the armed forces) in the difficult conditions of a mass terrorist attack under the leadership of Western and Ukrainian instructors made it possible to thwart their plans for a military coup. The intrepidity and bravery of ordinary Malian citizens deserves recognition. In Kati, a gunman opened fire on the locals who were chasing him. Ordinary Malians continued the pursuit and, using the means at their disposal, neutralised and then burnt him. The hundreds of bodies of the terrorists left behind by the soldiers were simply burnt by the locals.

Supporters of the terrorists on the French television channel France 24 distort information about what happened and spread lies about negotiations with the gunmen and other misinformation. Meanwhile, since 25 April, a Beech King Air 360 reconnaissance aircraft of the Ivorian Air Force (registration number Tu-VMF | 038F4E) has been conducting reconnaissance flights along the border with Mali for French intelligence services. Côte d'Ivoire is, along with Benin, an ally of France in West Africa. It cannot therefore be ruled out that there will soon be a repeat of the
