PRAGUE - The third edition of the biennial In the Matter of Art will culminate in a series of performances, excursions, guided tours, debates and lectures during September. The programme is mainly concentrated in the Biennial Centre at the National Gallery Prague, Veletržní palác, and reflects the themes of the exhibition - rural labour and transformation, the mental health of the working class and sustainable approaches to agriculture.
The final programme of the Biennial will open with ve středu 4. září discussion and lecture on the future of agriculture with experts from research and practice, led by artist and researcher Tomáš Uhnák. V rámci Prague Art Week bienále představí 7. září a discussion on the transformation of artistic and curatorial strategiesthat have pursued political objectives in recent years or decades, and special guided tour s ředitelkou tranzit.cz Tereza Stejskalová. Further guided tours in both Czech and English will take place throughout the month. Curatorial tours will be led by Aleksei Borisionok and Katalin Erdődi, curators of this year's Biennial.
18. září proběhne excursions and discussions in the lesser-known Prague Cooperative Museum. The programme will link the ideas of historical solidarity struggles with contemporary initiatives. 21. září the Biennial will offer a unique perspective on disappearing post-war architecture. Excursion and guided tour s architektkou Zdenkou Novákovou and curator of the Architecture Collection of the National Gallery in Prague Helena Huber-Doud takes the audience into the administrative building of a former foreign trade company Chemapol in Vršovice, Prague. In the nearby cultural centre Petrohradskáwhich is also awaiting closure and demolition, bude následovat diskuze about the link between the socialist foreign trade enterprise and post-revolutionary agribusiness. 23. září will take place at the Centre for Contemporary Art Prague debata Artalku on cultural unions and self-organization s kurátorem Aleksei Borisionok, member of the Slovak organization Kulturné odbory Eliškou Mazalánovou, umělcem Jirkou Skálou and Polish curator and writer Kubou Szrederem, moderovaná Anežkou Bartlovou.
U příležitosti Czech translation of the book Raving by American author McKenzie Wark se 26. září in the Korz of the Trade Fair Palace in the National Gallery in Prague will take place live video lecture by the authorjointly organised by tranzit.cz and the Lunchmeat Festival. Závěrečná část series of performative readings björnson's collective will take place later that evening after dark in the Biennial's exhibition space in the Great Hall of the Trade Fair Palace. Back in the Petrograd space the collective will 28. září uskuteční projekce filmu C-TV (If I Tell You I Like You...) about a fictional inclusive TV show by Austrian female directors Eva Egermann and Cordula Thymfollowed by diskuze s akademičkou Kateřinou Kolářovou a závěrečný večírek.
