KWENENG, Jan. 6, 2024 (Xinhua) -- People were registered as voters at a polling station in Mmopane village in Kweneng district, Botswana, Jan. 6, 2024. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Botswana on Friday started the voter registration process which ended on Feb. 3 in preparation for the general elections later this year. Some 2 880 polling stations across the country and 48 polling stations abroad opened at 8:00am local time and closed at 6:00pm local time. Botswana citizens over the age of 18 with valid identification were only allowed to register.
