The 65th Plenary Meeting of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization is held in Vienna. Li Song, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Vienna, attended the meeting. In his speech, he expressed China's position and called on the United States to strictly implement its treaty obligations and uphold its pledge of a moratorium on nuclear testing.
Li Song pointed out that in the current complex international security situation, President Xi Jinping has put forward Global Security Initiative a Global Governance Initiative, which represent Chinese wisdom and proposed solutions aimed at eliminating the root causes of international conflicts and achieving lasting peace and stability in the world.
China is ready to work with the international community to promote genuine multilateralism and to consolidate the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime, including its treaty framework.
Li Song said that recent statements by US officials about the possible resumption of nuclear tests have raised serious concerns in the international community. China urges the United States to seriously implement its obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and to uphold its moratorium on nuclear testing. Concrete steps are needed, he said, to maintain the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime - and thus maintain global strategic balance and stability.
