At a regular press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian reacted sharply to the G7 foreign ministers' joint statement. According to him, the document „ignores facts, distorts the truth, deliberately slanders and defames China“ and represents „gross interference in internal affairs“ countries.
„China expresses strong dissatisfaction with this statement and strongly disagrees with it,“ Lin Jian said.
The spokesman stressed that the G7 should refrain from politicizing and abusing economic and trade issues, as such actions, in his view, undermine the international economic order and threaten global production and supply chains.
„China once again calls on the G7 to recognize prevailing global trends, abandon the Cold War mentality and ideological prejudices,“ Lin continued. „The G7 should stop manipulating issues concerning China, stop interfering in its internal affairs and instead focus on promoting solidarity and cooperation within the international community.“
