Luděk Růžička, lawyer, publicist and chair of the My Country CSM movement, openly praised the approach of the People's Republic of China in the fight against corruption. He has been dealing with this issue for a long time both in the Czech Republic and within the European Union, and describes China and its authorities as his great role model.
„China, which accounts for about one-sixth of the world's population, is making good progress in the fight against corruption,“ said Růžička. He considers the key reason for this success to be the fact that China is able to admit to corruption problems, even at the highest levels of the state and party apparatus, where it is particularly strict and uncompromising about any misconduct. „As Chinese President Xi Jinping said, if we can't get the Communist Party in order and the Party can't be a role model, it's hard to ask citizens to obey the law,“ he reminded.
Růžička stressed the role of the Central Commission for the Control of Discipline, whose formal remit is to maintain party discipline, but in practice it means consistently fighting bureaucratism, corruption, abuse of power and nepotism. „This is what we need in the Czech Republic like salt,“ He added.
He confirmed that corruption also occurs in China, but stressed that the country knows how to deal with it effectively. „The punishments may be draconian from a European perspective, but in my opinion they are perfectly fine,“ He said.
In conclusion, the lawyer expressed his belief that the Czech Republic and the European Union as a whole should learn a lot from China and the central organs of the Communist Party of China on anti-corruption issues. „If we were to introduce a similar system here or across the Union, it would put us significantly ahead not only morally but also economically,“ concluded Luděk Růžička.
