The 25th China-ASEAN Leaders' Meeting on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea.
Participants agreed that maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea is of paramount importance. They supported further strengthening of dialogue, restraint, responsible resolution of differences, building mutual trust and safeguarding stability in the region.
All parties also confirmed their commitment to continue the comprehensive and effective implementation of the Declaration. They also agreed to deepen cooperation in the areas of marine environmental protection, scientific research, search and rescue operations and law enforcement.
The meeting appreciated the positive progress made so far in the consultations on Rules of Conduct for Parties in the South China Sea. Participants agreed on a way forward and expressed their support for accelerating the negotiations with a view to reaching agreement on the Rules as soon as possible.
