Mao Ning: No country can act as an international judge

No country can act as the world's policeman or take on the role of international judge, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning.

This statement was made on 6 January at a regular press conference in response to a question about the situation in Venezuela.

Mao Ning emphasised that China has long advocated that all countries, especially large ones, should respect the right of other nations to freely choose their own path of development. At the same time, she said, they should abide by international law and the goals and principles of the UN Charter.
