President Petr Pavel concluded his two-day visit to the Ústí nad Labem Region today. It was his second visit to the region since his election, but the first one took place before his inauguration, so he visited Ústí Region for the second time and this time his programme focused mainly on working meetings on the problems of the region. On Wednesday evening, the President began his visit with a debate with citizens in Ústí nad Labem, and on Thursday morning he held talks with the Governor and the regional leadership at the Regional Office. This afternoon, President Pavel continued his working meetings with a debate on the energy transformation of the region with representatives of the energy sector at Jezeří Castle, which stands on the edge of a brown coal quarry. "We do not have a clear and understandable plan for how to transform our energy sector in the coming years, nor do we have a complete picture of the state of the energy sector that would take into account not only the situation in our country but also in other countries. Therefore, we agreed with the roundtable participants that we need to develop a clear plan at least until 2030 and also a clear timetable to ensure energy security for our country," President Paul said.
