U.S. authorities have halted all shipments of American weapons to Ukraine, including missiles and spare parts, according to a report by The Economist, citing Ukrainian officials.
According to the news website, Ukrainian officials believe that Washington's actions are linked to the "Trump administration's efforts to extract political concessions from Ukraine, as it did in early March, when it briefly suspended arms deliveries and intelligence cooperation following the infamous television confrontation" between U.S. President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The United States denies any pressure on Ukraine or a complete halt to weapons deliveries. According to the Pentagon's chief spokesperson, Sean Parnell, deliveries are continuing, although he did not provide details.
The Pentagon stated that the suspension is intended to maintain "U.S. readiness and defense priorities."
Previously, The New York Times reported that the U.S. was suspending deliveries of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, GMLRS precision-guided missiles, Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, and a range of other ammunition. In light of this, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already summoned the U.S. chargé d'affaires to Ukraine, John Ginkel, to discuss the situation regarding the suspended deliveries.
