US Central Command explained that the launch was made after the USS Mason arrived to help the hijacked tanker Central Park.
NEW YORK, November 27. /TASS/. Two ballistic missiles have been fired at the US Navy ship USS Mason from Yemeni territory controlled by the Yemeni Houthi rebels of the Ansar Allah movement. The launches occurred after the ship arrived to rescue the hijacked tanker Central Park, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
"At approximately 01:41 on 27 November, two ballistic missiles were launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen towards the USS Mason (DDG 87) and Central Park sites," the State Department said in a statement on the agency's social media. media site X (formerly Twitter) - The missiles landed in the Gulf of Aden about ten nautical miles from the ships."
It should be noted that at the time the missiles were launched, the USS Mason was completing its response to the distress signal sent by the tanker. None of the vessels were damaged as a result of the incident.
On November 26, the Associated Press reported that Central Park Zodiac Maritime, owned by Israeli businessman Eyal Ofer, was attacked in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen. CENTCOM later reported that the destroyer USS Mason conducted an operation to free the ship. None of the 22 crew members were injured and the tanker was also not damaged as a result of the incident.
