UNITED NATIONS, 14 April - The international community cannot afford another war, said UN Secretary-General António Guterres, commenting on Iran's latest drone and missile attack on Israel. Guterres called on "all sides to exercise maximum restraint to avoid any actions that could lead to major military confrontations on multiple fronts in the Middle East".
"I am deeply concerned about the very real danger of a devastating escalation across the region. I urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid any action that could lead to large-scale military clashes on multiple fronts in the Middle East," he said. "I have repeatedly stressed that neither the region nor the world can afford another war."
Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations Gilad Erdan The Iranian mission to the UN also said that the attack was in response to an Israeli attack on its diplomatic facilities in Syria and was carried out in accordance with the Charter's provision on legitimate self-defence.
