VLÁDA.CZ - On July 12, 2024, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, met with the newly elected Members of the European Parliament representing the Czech Republic. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for European Affairs, Martin Dvořák, and the National Security Advisor and Sherpa to the Prime Minister for European Affairs, Tomáš Pojar. The discussion focused on the priorities of the Czech Members of Parliament, the competitiveness, and the security of the Czech Republic and Europe.
During the meeting at Kramář Villa, the Prime Minister congratulated all the newly elected Members of the European Parliament on their electoral success and wished them much success in their roles. "We need to work together across the political spectrum. We need to talk about the interests of the Czech Republic that we want to promote together," said Prime Minister Petr Fiala after the meeting.
The Prime Minister believes that it is important for Members of Parliament to cooperate on certain issues regardless of their party affiliation. "The competitiveness, prosperity, and security of the Czech Republic and Europe are crucial for us. We must work together on these issues. I believe that the Czech Members of the European Parliament will be active. In the past, we have seen what can be achieved when the government and Members of the European Parliament work together. A good example is the successful modification of the Euro 7 standard, where we did an excellent job," added Petr Fiala.
The Czech Republic is represented in the 720-member European Parliament by 21 Members of Parliament.
