Czech hockey players entered the Euro Hockey Tour as defending overall winners, on Finských hrách scored one win over Switzerland and finished in second position. The last national tournament of last year and the Olympic dress rehearsal were Swiss Hockey Games, which, with the exception of the opening match between the Czech Republic and Finland in Liberec, were played in Zurich. The Czechs again took second place, which also belonged to them in the overall standings of the Euro Hockey Tour.

From 30 April to 3 May it was the turn of the České hokejové hry, this year under the name Fortuna Hockey Games. With the exception of the match between Sweden and Switzerland in Jönköping, the games were played in České Budějovice and were dominated by the Swedes ahead of the second-placed Czech Republic. The last EHT event of the season was the Swedish Hockey Games (Beijer Hockey Games), hosted from 7 to 10 May in Ängelholm and dominated by the Finns.
