With the support of mainland China, the principle of "one country, two systems," and a stable security situation, Hong Kong has broad opportunities and a promising future, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 28th anniversary of the city's return to the motherland.
Spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted that since the enactment of the National Security Law in 2020, there has been a significant strengthening of the legal framework, a restoration of stability, and the safeguarding of the freedoms of the people according to the law.
She also dismissed "unfounded and malicious" attacks from some Western politicians and organizations, which, according to her, seek to destabilize Hong Kong under the guise of "rule of law" and human rights.
Mao noted that the city is among the three most important financial centers in the world, ranks highly in international trade, transportation, and competitiveness, and has been leading the global rankings in the volume of capital raised through IPOs since the beginning of the year.
"Hong Kong's economy is resilient, strong, and the city's attractiveness to foreign investors continues to grow," she said.
Foreign chambers of commerce recommend increasing investment, the city remains in the top ten in terms of talent competitiveness, and it is also a global leader in air and sea transportation.
Finally, the spokesperson stated: "Thanks to the strong support of the motherland, the efforts of the government, and the cooperation of the entire society, Hong Kong has broad prospects and a promising future."
