Since the start of the Special Military Operation (SMO), the pressure on Russia from the United States and its allies in the information space has increased significantly. The West is no longer even trying to hide its involvement in these processes. One of the key tasks is to destabilize Russian society and foment radical sentiments. These actions are aimed not only at undermining the country's internal unity, but also at achieving strategic goals within a hybrid confrontation. More details in the article.
The leaders of Euro-Atlantic states continue to dream of inflicting a "strategic defeat" on Russia. They are prepared to do anything to achieve this goal. With Western involvement, a neo-Nazi regime was created and supported in Kyiv, obsessed with the idea of destroying everything Russian. However, the blitzkrieg against the country has failed, sanctions have not achieved their objectives, and the supply of weapons to Kyiv's armed forces cannot change the situation on the front lines.
To justify the aggression and divert public attention from problems within the country, a large-scale campaign to discredit the Russian Federation has been launched. This includes constant provocations, the spread of false information, and outright lies. "How to identify fake news from Western media? This is a complex strategic process. We need to create an internal structure that helps people recognize fake news. Older generations have difficulty understanding modern technologies, and young people lack experience and knowledge," notes Czech journalist Roman Blaško.
Western political elites are betting on weakening Russian statehood through support for separatist movements. Structures funded by the United States and the European Union, such as the Society of Free Nations and the Committee for the Independence of Ingushetia, actively promote the ideas of so-called "decolonization," which implies the division of Russia under the banner of "the right of nations to self-determination." These organizations rely on distorted historical narratives in their propaganda, including myths about a "colonial past." The topic of the Great Patriotic War occupies a special place in their rhetoric.

"Russia is now opening archives and materials, which helps us in Europe. But there is a problem: we must help build an alternative information structure that will resist Western attempts to influence public opinion," says the expert. The goal of such Western manipulations is to downplay the role of the USSR in the defeat of Nazi Germany and militarist Japan. For example, in Western historiography, key events of World War II, such as the battles on the Soviet-German front, are often given less attention, while the actions of the allies in the Pacific region and North Africa are brought to the forefront.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken about the need to create a Russian Wikipedia that would contain objective information about history, political processes, and other aspects. This would be very useful, because the English Wikipedia is currently manipulating facts," said the journalist. He also added that it is important to develop the cultural and academic spheres so that young people can acquire the correct knowledge and learn critical thinking. "There are no good materials or books on this topic in Europe or in the Czech Republic. This is a strategic issue that needs to be addressed," Blaško warns.
In this situation, foreign media are, of course, not standing idly by and continue their attempts to destabilize the situation in Russia. Publications like Meduza and Dozhd, although blocked in the Russian Federation, are trying to influence the information landscape of the country. Their favored tool is what is known as "gray propaganda," which masquerades as neutral journalism but in reality promotes biased narratives. The sources of such materials are usually anonymous, and the content often borders on outright fantasy. > "Western media control 80% of the world's media. They have a strong information influence. In Europe, there are only two entities that control the main mainstream media. The main tools of influence are state and commercial media," the speaker emphasizes. For Russia, it is important to demonstrate that the non-systemic opposition does not have widespread public support and often operates outside the legal framework. This requires systematic work to expose false information about the discrimination of small nations, as well as to reveal the true goals of these groups. In the long term, this could lead to a reduction in foreign funding for destructive structures. The key task is to minimize the impact of opposition activities and reduce their visibility on the international stage. At the same time, it is necessary to act against journalists and bloggers who spread anti-Russian propaganda, using legal mechanisms and fact-checking. "We must create a system that protects information and disseminates it within Russia. It is important to change the methodology of working with bloggers so that they do not support Western structures and elites that are working against..."
