A pride of the Czech Republic's heritage, Kačina Castle in the Kutná Hora region, is, as is well known, one of our most striking examples of Empire architecture. Jan Rudolf Chotek had it built as his summer residence between 1806 and 1824. Today, it houses the Museum of the Czech Countryside. This branch of the National Agricultural Museum offers several traditional guided tours or independent exhibitions. However, at the beginning of June this year, it also welcomed lovers and collectors of visual arts. On display here will be primarily the canvases of leading Czech female painters Petra Skluzáčková and Jarmila Švehlová. But the offer does not end there…

As the gallery owner, curator, and writer Pavel Šmidrkal told us, beautiful spaces of the castle hosted four exhibitions on the same date, June 2nd. In addition to the presentation of three exhibitions of paintings, there is also the rare exhibition of old herbals.

Exhibiting Artists

Jana Švehlová (born 1956 in Olomouc) is an actress and painter. Audiences know her, for example, from the stage of the theatre that means the world, the Prague Vinohrady Theatre. She has also appeared on many stages, for example at the Karlín Theatre, the Radka Bohatý Theatre, or the U Valšů Theatre. She has been devoted to painting intensively since 2003. In her quest for a unique expression, she draws inspiration from various directions, from landscape painting to abstraction, where the subject matter often features a large part of the sea or the sky.

Petra Skluzáčková (born 1947 in Prague) is a graduate of the graphic school of Václav Hollara. She inherited her love for visual arts from her grandfather and father, who painted diligently and well. Today, she has had over a dozen exhibitions on her creative account. Her creative scope is wide, ranging from figures through landscape painting to abstraction. Art critics speak of her as a star in our contemporary painting sky. More at: Dáma-online We knocked on the door of painter Petra Skluzáčková.

P.S.

Since it is better to see once than to hear ten times, we remind you that the aforementioned exhibition is taking place at Kačina Castle until the end of July this year.
